The Zaher Shah Foundation was established in October 2008 to safeguard the legacy of HM Mohammed Zaher Shah and ensure that his vision of peace, prosperity and hope for the people of Afghanistan becomes a reality through its children and its land.
The primary aim of the foundation is to enable programmes to be developed which protect, educate and inspire the youth of Afghanistan to help rebuild their country.

The Foundation's short term goal is to channel financial aid and other resources to community based organisations, often with regional outreach, that assist with the development of the social and economic empowerment of Afghanistan's most vulnerable individuals and areas. In the medium term the Foundation's vision is to establish and run large-scale altruistic projects.

The Foundation was established to deliver and support a broad range of projects with a focus on agricultural initiatives, educational and cultural training. By engaging both international and regional interests, the Foundation is working with local Afghan partners: NGO's, Charities and small businesses to ensure that the needs of the Afghan people and their country are addressed at both local and international levels.
