Our Initiatives

The Zaher Shah Foundation is a non-profit organisation established to help promote awareness of two of Afghanistan’s greatest assets – its children and its land.

The Foundation has targeted three areas which it feels will bring the most benefit to the Afghan people and help achieve HM Mohammed Zaher Shah’s vision for his country:

Youth

A large proportion of the existing population of Afghanistan is under the age of 24. These young people have only known the upheaval of war and poverty. They have not been able to develop and tap into their potential to help themselves and to help rebuild their country.  more...

Afghanistan is an extremely fertile land with a wealth of local knowledge that has not been properly utilised. Over the past 30 years, much of the existing forests have been decimated by the illegal timber industry.  more...
